Michael Keenan I'm saying that being rational in one area, doesn't meant that you're rational in all areas. There are many fine Christian engineers who nonetheless hold batshit views about the likelihood of a (Christian) apocalypse, for example. IMO, the AI doomers are in the same class as other secular doomer movements, such as the Malthusians, Luddites, Y2K, climate change, peak oil, etc.
