Joe Allen Let me be clear to begin with that I think people should be free to drink what they want, including raw milk. However, I grew up in a small town in Idaho, and milked cows when I was in high school. IMO, it's impossible to prevent a small amount of feces, dirt, hair, mastitus pus, and other contaminants from entering the milk. You can filter out most of the visible particulates, but some bacteria inevitably enters the milk. Humans evolved to handle a certain amount of bacterial load, so drinking raw milk soon after milking probably won't cause most people any harm. But personally, I prefer milk that's been pasteurized.
